The locksmith said they could overstate the hole to fit the more than standard openings, just it is a tricky job. I opted for the 2 inch backset from Directly Door Hardware. Information technology came in antiquarian brass, and that was a lucifer with my door latch -- a beautiful fit. Although the keys were not a lucifer, I had the locksmith re-key my kitchen door, where the ii inch backset was installed, and my garage door. Now all four locks match. It was a pleasant experience in one case I establish the 2 inch backset deadbolt at Directly Door Hardware. The locksmith said it was a good quality, heavy duty deadbolt. I am HAPPY! Information technology looks similar there are just 2 places in the country have it on hand. This replacement isn't equally sturdy and doean't accept equally many parts to information technology equally the old one, simply maybe simple is better. I may club another merely to have on hand. The rod the threads into the latch pulled out. But 1thread holding information technology on. Had to drill latch out, retap the threads and epoxy the latch back on. This was a real pain. The deadbolt I ordered arrived sooner than expected which was keen, fit perfectly, was easy to install and the color was perfect with our existing hardware. I was replacing a deadbolt that hadn't been manufactured in over 30 years on an older door that required a 2-inch backset that is now difficult to observe.
